So you think bottle girls make bank?
You go to a club for the first time, and you watch these women strut out with bottles and some lights! You’re like, ‘Wow these girls get paid to bounce bottles”? They keep running bottles back and forth. It’s actually a sales job. You need to run your section like it’s your territory. Think of it. The venue offers you a space, and menu. All it takes is for you to reach out, promote and bring your clients in. Your performance is truly based on YOUR EFFORTS. If you have no clientele, then your job is to network and put yourself out there. & not just stand there. Be on the floor but be presentable because your reputation will build much more quickly. Greet everyone that you work with, you are not better than anyone that you work with. You treat all with respect. You never know which club anyone will land in. The girl that bullied me at my very first club, ended up asking me four months down for an interview. She had no idea that I was the hiring manager. It is truly your own, business. That’s why I can walk you through later on, about building your own business and write offs for deductions.
Mind you, the men I worked with would make sure that I was safe but would teach me, “How to Make Men’s Pockets Hurt”. I was told,
“IF YOU’RE GOING TO BE A B*TCH, BE A BAD ONE”
So, you look on tiktok and you find a video that states, ’What I make in a night as a bottle girl”. Since, you’re curious and you’ve heard that these women make bank. I can you this right now. If you are not at a venue that is already set up with a good reputation. It will be tough, but not impossible. I would suggest that you try to step in regardless, work your way up. Introduce yourself to all the DJs, Promoters, Security, Bartenders and staff. We are all connected. Just an FYI. So, the bottle girls start counting their money, and it’s nearly your paycheck in two weeks. (This depends on your venue) however, getting into industry is your first step to any type of industry. In Las Vegas, they make $150,000 in three months. It’s important to understand that you are suggestive selling. You’re taking a 20% tip or more of their bill. Your job is to book, and run up that tab. Then, upsell. Obtain clients and follow up with future events. You’re not just a glam girl that bounces bottles up and down. You’re truly your own boss. That’s why, it’s important to also have tough skin as a bottle girl. We are all money driven. Most of us bottle girls work corporate, then nightlife. I enjoy bottle service because of the pay out from the tips are much higher than most people’s hourly rates. Amongst that, you meet celebrities, and people within our network.
Keep in mind that most clubs open at 10PM. The last bottle call to sell in California is before 2:00AM. Upsell around 12:30AM – 1:15 AM, then be sure to keep an eye on tables for the last 30 minutes. You only have approximately, 3.5 hours to actually sell. If not, pre-book. Within the duration of you time within the week, that’s truly on you to promote yourself and the club. Even if they don’t purchase a bottle from you, when they end up at your venue. YOU are the bottle girl that they will recognize and go to first. YOUR SALE from YOUR PROMOTION, because they’ve seen your face in correlation with the venue. Your goal as a bottle girl, is to become a face of a venue. People will think of your name when they think of booking a table at the hottest club. Then, you’ll grow within industry.
- You’re kind to everyone within industry: trust me. It’ll go a long way once you’re in the right circle.
- You’re able to build branding and your reputation will be that, “Cool Girl” even if you’re shaking hands with strangers. People will genuinely like you for being yourself.
Now, you’re thinking damn,
How can I become a bottle girl? What’s the process?
Well, you came to the right place.
How do you find a bottle girl job?
The best way to find a bottle service position is during hiring season in January. I would make a list of all the clubs, and go onto their Instagram. Having a portfolio is not crucial but, I would say that it is important because it gives the audience or hiring manager of who you are as a sense of a person. Constantly, check the instagrams/ social media feeds of the venues that you are looking into and start sending direct messages. Be sure to write out a script prior, and copy and paste. That is how I found the best results within the industry. Even as a manager that was hiring for bottle service, that was my preference. I would check their instagram profiles and decide whether I would set up a time to meet the candidate.
Next step:
SCORE! You landed an interview!
What do you wear to your interview?
All black, black thigh high boots, one piece, with black leggings – Make sure that it contours your body. It is also an attire that bottle girls would wear at least once in their careers, which is a black two piece. So, we would be able to imagine you as a bottle girl at our venue. Make sure that you wear eyelashes, but nothing too heavy (depending on the club). Heavy on foundation, and full glam. Be bubbly, energetic, and have a knowledge of basic bottles. Some questions that I would ask the person who is interviewing you is, “How many tables do we have”. “How is the commission percentage if I were to book tables”. “Within your group, what is the missing piece”. You are supposed to be the ideal candidate.
Remember,
You are part of the Venue. You are not just a woman there to stand around. You are a promoter as well. You’re building clients, following up (with texts after you’ve helped clients), and pushing out day party events (when you get there ofc) you have to build a portfolio before you work day parties, because the promoters within nightlife are the ones that are in charge of curating their events for the day parties. Be kind to all. Be stern, and try to be on point. If you’re new, ask questions and cover your a$$. We are in an industry where we will work together because we have to, since we split tips but, I wouldn’t say that we are truly “friends”. Do not over share. Keep it business professional, but with a bit of cheekiness. I am feeding you gold, right now. It took me to get burned many times to have this knowledge. Think of everyone as an opportunity for business, and people will only do business with people they trust and that are genuine. Do not burn bridges, unless it is truly justified. You are the main character, and that’s the mentality of every one of us. We will tell you, “Either you’re IT, or you’re NOT” bottle girls can be like a high school clique. They have to like you for you to be part of the team. We need cohesiveness, and all types of personalities. I’ve worked in many well rounded teams. I’ve also worked in ones where only the top bottle girls were able to swim. It’s not an easy job, at all. However, it will teach you how to be a boss for sure!
